The Dream

Wake up, darling, it seems you had that dream again
This nightmare seems to haunt you each and every night
It seems like in you dream you're trying to flee an awful sin
You toss and turn, and I try and console you by holding you very tight.

At times you sit straight up with an intense look of fear on your face
You looking directly at me, like you don't know me and you are so rigid with fear you feel stiff
You seem to be from another time, another place
From what you tell me it's like you are living some type of myth.

You tell me in your dream someone is chasing you
You are not sure where you are as it is foggy and dark
As you run, you say you can't see who it is as they are not in plain view
You say you never see their face or hear their voice, not one remark.

You seem to be awake now as we hear the dog barking outside
So you decide you will go see what all the commotion is about
You go on the porch to find it is foggy and dark outside
Still hearing the barking dog you wonder what it is all about.

I walk outside to check on you as I have something planned
With knife in hand I walk up behind you, see
The first stab I hit you, bleeding you take off running across the dirt and sand
The dream you had tried to warn you of what I had in store, see.
