Salute to Adversity

Adversity - I salute you
for you propelled me
into dark adits of myself
to mine for inner gold

The harder you pushed
the deeper I dug
clawing my way
through dark tunnels

Eventually to grasp
with bloody fingers
sparkling nuggets
from the depths

Each time you call
secret caverns
are painfully illuminated
to reveal their gems

No more shall
I try to evade you
for I know not what treasure
yet lies within
